The old repair guy in Phoenix who showed me the trick with a drop of oil on the shutter blades
I was stuck on a jammed Canon AE-1 for about 3 days last month and this retired guy at a shop in Phoenix let me watch him work. He put one tiny drop of watch oil on the shutter curtain and worked it with a soft brush for like 2 minutes. He told me 'never force it, let the oil find the pivot.' I tried it on a Nikon FM2 yesterday and it worked on the first try. Anyone else use oil on the curtain or is that a bad habit to pick up?
