Unpopular opinion: rubber cement beats 3M tape on light seals every time

Used to spend 20 minutes cutting foam strips for a Canon AE-1 at my bench in Tucson. Now I brush on rubber cement from Ace Hardware, let it sit 10 min, and it holds better than the peel and stick stuff. The foam always crumbled after a year in the heat here. What are you all using for mirror bumper foam these days?
