Watched a guy try to fix a shutter with a regular screwdriver and cringed

He was working on a Canon AE-1 and didn't have the right JIS driver, just a regular Phillips. I could see the screw heads starting to strip from across the bench. Anyone have a good source for a cheap, proper JIS set so I can point people to it?

Seeing that happen is pure pain! I watched a friend do the same thing to a perfectly good lens mount. You can find a decent set of JIS drivers on Amazon for under twenty bucks.

Ugh, that's the worst! It's like @young.ryan said, people just grab the nearest Phillips head and crank away. I see this everywhere now, using the wrong tool because it's close by and then wrecking something simple. It's not just camera gear, it's furniture, bikes, you name it. Why do we all skip the two minutes to find the right screwdriver?

Honestly it drives me nuts too. Watched a guy at the bike shop strip a brake lever bolt with a regular Phillips last week. The worst part is they never admit the tool was wrong, they just blame the part for being cheap. That little bit of extra force with the wrong fit ruins everything. Makes you want to carry a JIS driver in your pocket just to hand to people.
