Debate: sleeping bag vs. quilt for backpacking this season
I took a 15 degree down quilt on a 3 night trip last month and it saved me a pound of pack weight, but my buddy swears his mummy bag keeps him warmer in wind. What's your take for shoulder season trips where temps drop below freezing at night?

Frost on his face" sounds like a rough way to start the day, maybe stick to the bag.

My buddy took a quilt on a trip in the Sierras last October and woke up with frost on his face. Said the draft was coming in from the side no matter how much he cinched it down. He ended up sleeping in his puffy jacket with the hood up for two nights. He still won't touch a quilt below 40 degrees now. I think it depends on whether you sleep cold or not.

@olivia_lopez98 nailed it - frost on his face" is nightmare fuel. Did your buddy try using a closed cell foam pad or anything to block the draft, or was he just fighting the quilt itself?
