Everyone says you need a 0-degree bag for the Rockies in October... mine was too hot.
I used my old 20-degree bag on a trip near Leadville last fall and slept fine, but my buddy with a 0-degree was sweating by midnight. I think people just read the temp rating and panic without checking the actual forecast. What's the warmest bag you've gotten away with in cold weather?

Totally get that! My 15-degree bag has been perfect for October trips before.

Oh sure, a 15-degree bag in October. Spoken like someone who sleeps in a furnace. I tried that once and spent the night wearing every piece of clothing I brought, including the rain jacket.

Yeah but it really depends where you're camping though. My October in the mountains is way different than near a lake. I've used my 15 degree bag for years and been fine, but I always check the forecast and pack a good liner just in case. Sleep systems are so personal, what works for one person totally fails for another. I guess I just run warm when I sleep.

Disagree totally honestly. If you're shivering in a 15 degree bag in October you're probably not layering right or you picked a bad campsite. I slept in 18 degree weather last October in a 15 degree bag with just a base layer and was totally fine. Pro tip though you gotta eat a big meal before bed and make sure your pad has a decent R value. Cold ground will steal your heat way faster than the air ever will.
