Just learned my sleeping bag was rated for survival not comfort

Been using this mummy bag for like 3 years and always wondered why I was freezing at 30 degrees when it said 20 degree rating. Read something on the REI blog last night that explains the EN rating system. Turns out that 20 degree number is the lower limit where you won't die, not where you'll be comfortable. For comfort you need to add like 10-15 degrees. Kinda mad I didn't figure this out sooner. Has anyone else had that rude awakening with their bag?

OH NO that is such a frustrating thing to figure out after years of suffering! I had the exact same wake up call with my bag last winter and I was so annoyed at myself for not knowing sooner. Hope you can get a liner or something to help out in the meantime!

Wait is this really that big of a deal? I mean yeah a sleeping bag that doesn't breathe properly can be annoying but I feel like people overreact to this stuff. I just unzip mine a little bit or sleep with it half on and half off if I get too hot. Sucks that you had to deal with it for that long but a liner isn't gonna fix bad fabric or poor design at the core.
