Just tested two different 20-degree sleeping bags on a trip to the White Mountains.

The one with a proper draft collar and continuous baffles kept me warm all night, while the cheaper one with sewn-through seams left me cold by 3 AM. Anyone have a solid budget-friendly bag that actually uses a real draft tube?

Check the used gear market. People often sell high-end bags cheap after one trip. Found a Marmot Never Winter with a full draft tube for half price. That sewn-through cold spot is a design flaw, not a budget thing. Some cheaper brands just skip the crucial parts.

Honestly, my cheap bag with sewn-through seams has always been fine for me.

Read something about continuous baffles being a game changer for down bags...
