My $40 camp stove fell apart after 2 trips, back to the old Coleman
Bought a lightweight butane stove online, looked great in the photos. On our last outing near Lake Tahoe the regulator just gave out while boiling water for coffee. Tried fixing it with a wrench and some tape, no luck, so we ate cold granola and talked about it the whole morning. I dug my dad's old Coleman out of the garage and it fired up on the first try, that thing is 15 years old. Anyone else had a newer gear piece totally flake on them and gone back to something dated instead?

My own track record with new gear is so bad my wife now asks if I packed the duct tape before she asks about the tent. Last summer a $70 stove died on night one while my grandpa's beat up pot from the 70s is still going strong, so the old stuff wins again. Turns out they built things to last back then instead of to sell again next year.
