Rant: That Coleman tent I bought last month leaked in the first rain
Picked up a Coleman Sundome 4-person from the Walmart in Flagstaff on the way to a trip last week. First night out near Oak Creek Canyon, it poured around 2 AM. Woke up with a puddle right under my sleeping bag. The rainfly was on tight, no gaps. Checked the seams and they looked fine when I set it up. Anyone else have bad luck with these tents lately or did I just get a lemon?

I read that Coleman's quality has gone downhill since they moved production overseas.

Honestly, I gotta disagree with the whole "Coleman quality went downhill" thing. I've had a couple of their tents from recent years and they've held up fine for me in some pretty rough weather. Maybe people just miss the old days or got unlucky with a dud.

Hold on, wait, you set it up in Flagstaff and then took it to Oak Creek Canyon? That's like a two hour drive. You didn't check the weather or anything before you left? I mean, I get it, you're excited to get out there, but setting up a brand new tent without a test run in the backyard is a big gamble. Leaks happen all the time, especially with new gear. You gotta know your setup before you trust it with your sleep, man. It's a hard lesson, but a cheap one compared to being soaked all night.
