Stopped trusting tent capacity numbers after my "2 person" tent barely fit one sleeping pad
Tent makers count bodies lying shoulder to shoulder, not people with gear, and a 2 person rating usually means two mummy bags touching with zero room for packs. My REI Half Dome 2 fits two pads only if you skip the vestibule and leave your bag outside in the rain. Measure your actual pad footprint before you buy, my Nemo Tensor is 25 inches wide and two of those is 50 inches in a tent listed at 52. Anyone else figure out the real usable width on their tent the hard way?
