That rainy week at Shenandoah made me toss my old tent pad

Back in April I spent five nights at Big Meadows with a friend who swore his foam pad was fine, then woke up shivering on night two with water pooled under my hip. My $30 self-inflating pad from 2019 gave out completely by day four, so I ended up stacking a cheap pool float we found in the camp store just to get through the storm. Has anyone else had a pad fail mid-trip and had to jury-rig something weird like that?

Did you try flipping it over to see if the air was just shifting? I had a pad lose a seam in the middle of a downpour at Grayson Highlands once and ended up stuffing pine needles and my rain jacket under me, worked better than it should have honestly.
