The "quiet cancel" of my old bank, went local after 6 months of fees

I banked with a big chain for 8 years and never blinked at the $12 monthly fee until i added up what that was per year, $144 for literally nothing. Switched to a credit union in Portland last spring and now i get actual humans on the phone and zero maintenance charges. Anyone else ditch a name brand for a local spot after realizing what you were paying for?
