A talk with a retired engineer at a Denver coffee shop made me rethink my whole job search
I was at a place called Queen City Coffee last month, feeling pretty stuck after sending out maybe 50 applications with no real bites. This older guy at the next table saw me looking at my laptop and just asked what I did. I told him I was a project coordinator looking for a step up. He said, 'Kid, you're selling tasks. You need to sell solutions.' He spent 20 minutes telling me to rewrite my whole resume around problems I fixed, not just duties I had. I did it, and got three calls the next week. Has anyone else had a random chat totally flip how you pitch yourself?

What if we're all just telling stories about our jobs wrong?

My job's chaos is pretty hard to get wrong, honestly.

Read a blog post once that said resumes are just marketing for your skills. Framing things as solved problems makes way more sense than a boring task list.
