I started writing down my wins in a $2 notebook and my yearly review went way better than I planned
So I work as a scheduling coordinator at a small dental office in Dayton, and for about two years I felt stuck. My reviews were always fine but never great, and I could never remember what I actually did all year when my boss asked. So in January I grabbed a cheap spiral notebook from the dollar bin and started jotting one line whenever something went okay. Stuff like a patient who was about to cancel and I talked them into coming in, or a mix-up with insurance I caught before it turned into a problem.
By the time my review rolled around last week I had 43 of these little notes. I brought the notebook in and just flipped through it when she asked what I'd done. She actually stopped me a couple times and wrote things down. I got a bigger raise than I expected and she asked if I could show the front desk how I keep track. I felt a little silly pulling out a notebook but it went way better than I bet it would.
Anyway now I want to keep it going next year but I'm wondering if anyone has a way to do this that doesn't take up a notebook every 12 months. Do you keep a running list somewhere, or am I overthinking it and should just buy another notebook?
