Remember when job listings actually listed salary ranges?

Back in 2012, I was applying in Columbus and about half the postings had a number right there, like "$38k-$42k" for a coordinator role. Now I filter through 20 listings and maybe 1 shows a range, the rest just say "competitive" which means nothing. Did companies just decide transparency was a liability, or did the job boards push them to hide it? Has anyone else noticed this shift making the search way more annoying?

Hate it. It's like they think hiding the number makes the job MORE attractive, when it really just screams "we don't want to pay you what you're worth." I swear "competitive" is just code for "we'll lowball you and see what sticks." The whole thing wastes everyone's time too. I've gone through entire interview loops only to find out the pay was way below what I needed. Listing the range should be the BARE MINIMUM.
