TIL that asking for feedback immediately after a meeting backfired hard
Two weeks ago I asked my boss for her thoughts right after a client call and she unloaded a list of 12 things I did wrong, so now I wait at least 24 hours before asking anyone for input.

Do you think she'd still rattle off 12 things after a whole day to think?

Honestly, I think 12 things is a bit much no matter when you ask. That's a lot of feedback for one client call, you know? Waiting 24 hours might not change the fact that your boss is the type to keep a running mental list of everything you do wrong. Sounds like the real issue is your boss not knowing how to give feedback in a balanced way, not the timing. Maybe asking right after the call just caught her off guard and she word vomited everything out.

Wait isn't getting feedback right after the call better because everything is fresh in their head? I feel like waiting 24 hours just gives them time to forget the small stuff and focus on the big picture stuff that actually matters.
