Took a pay cut to join a startup, got more than I bargained for
I left a steady $62k office job in Austin last March to join a 8 person startup as their operations lead, mostly because the founder promised flexible hours and real ownership. Six months in, I'm working 50 hour weeks, but I've learned more about budgeting and client retention than I did in 5 years at the old place, plus my profit share actually paid out last month. Has anyone else traded stability for equity and found the stress worth it, or am I just lucky with this team?
