Update: I finally tried that 'two resume versions' trick and it paid off
I was always against making multiple resumes because it felt like cheating. But after 6 weeks of no callbacks for sales jobs, I gave in and made one version focused on metrics and another on soft skills. The metrics one got me 3 interviews in the first week alone. Has anyone else had luck tailoring resumes for different industries?

Tailoring your resume to highlight exactly what that industry values is pretty much the difference between getting noticed and getting ignored. The metrics version for sales makes total sense because hiring managers in that field want hard numbers they can picture you hitting. Most people just send the same generic thing everywhere and then wonder why nobody calls back.

Read an article saying recruiters spend like 6 seconds scanning each resume, so tailoring makes perfect sense.
