Used to think networking events were a total waste of time but after landing 2 job leads from one mixer last month I'm a total convert now

I walked into a chamber of commerce thing in Austin back in March pretty much rolling my eyes, and by the end of the night I had three solid conversations that actually led to interviews, so has anyone else had a similar experience where something you dismissed turned out to be the real deal?

Yeah honestly same here. Walked into one thinking it'd be awkward and ended up with two legit leads.

Went in expecting to shake a few hands and make small talk about the weather. Came out with my phone buzzing with two people actually wanting to follow up. Guess I should've brought a business card holder instead of a flask.
