Vent: Took 11 months to fix a simple data merge problem at work

I spent almost a year trying to merge two spreadsheets manually at my marketing job. Finally asked a coworker who showed me a VLOOKUP in 20 minutes. Anyone else waste way too long before asking for help?

Used to be one of those "I'll figure it out myself" types. Then I spent a week making a spreadsheet with 500 manual entries before someone showed me a pivot table. Never again.

Yeah I mean that VLOOKUP thing is brutal, I've been there. But it's funny how this keeps happening in other parts of life too. Like I remember trying to fix a leaky faucet for like two weekends in a row before my neighbor just told me to replace a $3 washer. There's this weird pride thing where we think we should know how to do everything ourselves, but the real shortcut is just asking someone who's already done it. Idk maybe it's just part of getting older and realizing nobody was born knowing any of this stuff.
