Why I stopped using online courses for programming skills and went back to books
Tbh I used to think video tutorials were the only way to learn, but after 3 wasted months on a Python course that kept crashing, I picked up a used textbook for $12 and actually finished building a project in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had better luck with old school methods over flashy platforms?

Yeah my roommate tried learning guitar off YouTube and gave up after a week. Then his grandpa just sat down with him and a chord book and he's playing actual songs now. There's something about not having autoplay and algorithm suggestions pulling you in ten different directions that makes things stick better.

Honestly that makes total sense. Video courses are great for showing you the steps but with a book you can flip back to parts you missed without pausing and rewinding every five minutes. Ngl having something physical you can write in feels way more hands-on too.
