Appreciation post: The weirdest trim job I've ever seen was in a cafe in Boise

Stopped for coffee last week and the whole place had this crazy, wavy baseboard that looked like it was cut with a jigsaw... but it was all one piece. The owner said the original carpenter in 1998 was trying to match the 'flow' of the river outside. Has anyone else run into a design choice that made you just stop and stare?

My buddy bought a house where the last owner had glued hundreds of those flat, polished river rocks to the living room wall. They said it was a "natural accent wall," but it just looked like a weird, lumpy backsplash from floor to ceiling. The worst part was the dust that settled in all the little gaps, it was impossible to clean. They ended up taking a crowbar to the whole thing after a month because it gave them the creeps.

My sister's bathroom had a rock wall and the grout mold changed my mind.

That sounds like a nightmare to deal with. Some design ideas just don't work in real life. Good call getting rid of it.
