My handmade bookcase for the classroom passed the dictionary test

Was kinda nervous it would buckle under all those heavy books. Added some extra support to the shelves just to be safe. Let the kids help with the sanding, which made it a fun project. It's standing solid now and not making any noise. Really pleased with how it turned out for a beginner like me.

Will the kids treat books better now?

You're asking if kids will "treat books better" but is that even the real problem? Kids have been bending pages and writing in margins for decades, it's just what they do. Are we really going to act like a creased spine is some big moral failing? Maybe the issue is just that books get used, and used things get worn out. Isn't that kind of the point?
