Rant: Spent a whole day trying to get a single cabinet door to hang straight

Tbh, I was installing some basic shaker cabinets in a kitchen remodel last Thursday. The very last door just would not sit flush, it was off by like an eighth inch at the top. I checked the hinges, shimmed the box, even sanded the edge. Ngl, I spent probably six hours on just that one door. Turns out the hinge cup on the door itself was routed a hair too deep at the factory. Had to pack it with a sliver of wood and glue. Anyone else ever get stuck on a tiny factory defect that ate up your whole afternoon?

That's the worst, when you finally find it's a manufacturing flaw you can't just adjust out.

Tell me about it. Drives you nuts finding that one tiny flaw.

Actually, I kind of like finding that flaw. It feels like solving a puzzle, you know? Once you spot it, the problem has a name and you can figure out a fix or just accept it. The real headache for me is when something feels off but you can't even find what's wrong. That silent mystery is way worse than a known flaw.
