Saw the worst deck framing at a new build in Bellingham

They used untreated 2x4s for the joists and the ledger board was just nailed on, no flashing at all. It's gonna rot out in like two years. How do people get away with this stuff?

Yeah I was reading an article about how the building inspectors are just stretched way too thin... they can't check every single thing on these new developments. The builders know they can cut corners and probably won't get caught. It's crazy that basic stuff like flashing gets skipped, that's like framing 101.

Exactly, @max_cooper21. I had to hire my own inspector before closing because I just didn't trust the city's rushed check.
