TIL the hard way that cheap glue guns can ruin a crown molding job
I spent 4 hours last Saturday fighting with a $12 glue gun from the hardware store trying to tack up some crown molding pieces. The trigger kept jamming and the glue would drip everywhere but where I needed it. Eventually swapped to a $40 one with variable temp and finished the whole room in 45 minutes. Anyone else run into crap tools that cost you way more time than they saved?

Yeah "tools are tools" until your $12 glue gun decides it wants to redecorate your floor instead of your crown molding. I've got a graveyard of cheap tools in my garage that I keep around just to remind myself that being cheap costs more in the long run. Pretty sure I spent more on gas running back to the hardware store than I would have just buying the better gun on the first trip.

Honestly I used to be the guy who bought the cheapest option every time. Figured tools are tools right? Nah that glue gun post is spot on. My cheap one made me want to throw it across the garage. The variable temp one was a game changer.

lol "tools are tools" that's what i used to tell myself too until i bought a $10 paint sprayer for a fence job. spent the whole weekend cleaning clogs and cussing at it. ended up borrowing my neighbor's decent one and was done in 2 hours. the cheap one is now living in the back of my shed as a reminder that sometimes you gotta pay up for quality. and the worst part is my husband still brings up the paint sprayer story every time someone mentions home projects, like i need to hear it again.
