Blew $340 on a power stretcher head I didn't need, and my back is still mad about it
So I finally went solo six months back and figured a power stretcher would fix all my problems on a 60 yard stretch-in job in Mesa. Dropped $340 on this fancy head with all the extensions, barely used it because the room had a weird angled bay window that made it useless. Ended up doing the whole thing on my knees with a kicker like always, and my back was wrecked for a week. My old lead guy laughed and said he's been meaning to sell me his spare for $80 for months. Anybody else buy a tool that just sat in the van while you did it the hard way?
My buddy Denny did almost the exact same thing last year. He bought one of those big stretcher setups for a rental complex job, and then the first room had a curved wall so the whole thing was dead weight. He finished with a knee kicker over three days and could barely get out of his truck after. The tool sat in his garage for months until he finally sold it to some kid for half what he paid. Hearing your story makes me think the cheap used one from your old lead guy was the real deal all along.
