Can we talk about shop pressure to speed up installs?
When they want it done fast, I unroll all the carpet first to check for flaws. This lets me see pattern matches and plan cuts without hurry. That extra few minutes up front saves hours fixing mistakes later. It keeps the client happy and the boss off my back.

Honestly, the Best part of that upfront check is it takes the mental pressure off YOU. When you know the material is good, you can just focus on the craft instead of rushing. That calm focus is what actually makes you faster in the end.

Ever notice how that calm focus can backfire though? Like you get so into the flow you start overthinking tiny details you'd normally skip. Does that ever happen to you, where the lack of pressure makes you a perfectionist instead of faster?

Totally agree with that. I read a book last year that called it "preparation confidence," where just knowing your basics are solid frees up brain space. Ever come across that idea before?

That calm lets you work with more care, which always beats rushed work.
