Can we talk about the time I laid carpet over a floor vent and had to cut it out with a utility knife
Was doing a basement rec room in Akron and felt a bump under the pad after I'd already stretched everything tight, turns out it was the HVAC register cover I'd knocked loose and swept under there. Had to pull the whole seam back and cut around it freehand with a utility knife while the homeowner watched, and of course the vent sat right in the middle of the room. Anybody got a trick for marking vents and outlets before the pad goes down so this never happens again?
