Had to rip out a whole living room carpet job I did Tuesday.
The homeowner decided they wanted the seams running the opposite direction after I already stretched it all in. Anyone else ever have a customer change their mind after you're done with the hard part?

Oh, did they at least offer to pay you for the extra time? I had a lady once who insisted I cut her carpet right up to the baseboards without tucking it - said she "liked the look of a raw edge." Then two weeks later she called me back crying because her cat was pulling up the frayed bits. Had to go back and redo the whole thing, and she still tried to haggle me down on the labor. Some people just don't get how carpet works until they've lived with it for a bit.

Did you catch that article in Floor Trends last month about how 30% of callbacks are from homeowners changing their minds after the work's done?

Bet the homeowner didn't even think about how the light hits the seams now or how the pattern might get thrown off with flipped direction. That's the kind of thing that makes you want to charge them a change order fee.
