My old chalk line finally gave out, got me thinking

Snapped the hook off a 20 year old chalk line on a Tuesday job in Boise. Grabbed a new one from the truck, works fine, but the old one had a certain wobble I knew how to read. Anyone else got a tool they just can't seem to retire?

For real, that "wobble I knew how to read" hits hard, I had a beater speed square that was off by a hair but I knew exactly how to compensate for it. You can't just replace that kind of muscle memory with a brand new tool, it takes months to build that feel back up. Keep the old one in the truck as a backup, even if it's just for those weird cuts where you need that familiar slop.
