Power stretcher vs knee kicker for long hallways, never going back
Did a 40 foot hallway job last Tuesday and tried using just the knee kicker like I used to back in my first year. Took twice as long and the carpet still had those little ripples near the door frames. Swapped to the power stretcher halfway through and the difference was night and day. Smooth as glass, no re-stretching needed. Is there any case where a knee kicker is actually better, or am I just old school for no reason?
Wait, you actually made it through a whole 40 footer with just a knee kicker before switching? I mean, I did a similar run last month and my knees were screaming by the time I hit the halfway point. The power stretcher is just so much more reliable on long runs, especially when you're dealing with door frames and corners where the carpet always seems to fight back. I honestly can't think of a single time the knee kicker won out, unless you're doing a tiny closet or a stair landing where the power stretcher won't even fit. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the knee kicker is only good for touching up edges now, not for the main pull.
