Pro tip: Always show the customer how their old carpet hides dirt
I had this client last summer in Austin who kept complaining her beige carpet looked clean after vacuuming. I grabbed a new vacuum bag and ran it over a 2x2 section near the door, then dumped the bag out on a white towel. She was shocked at the gray pile of dust. It totally changed how she saw maintenance and she even tipped me extra for the demo. Has anyone else done a quick visual trick like that to win over a tough customer?

Did you ever accidentally dump the bag out on their white rug instead of a towel? I did that once, talk about awkward.

Tell them it's a rug, it's supposed to be "abstract art" now.

Oh man that's genius lol. I had a similar thing with a client in Phoenix who swore her tile was clean until I wiped a warm damp microfiber cloth across a corner and showed her the brown streak. She literally hired me for a full deep clean right after.
