Pro tip: that cheap knee kicker from the online auction site is a false economy.
I spent about $80 on one to save cash, and the head snapped clean off on the second job, a tight hallway in a 1950s bungalow. Has anyone found a decent mid-range brand that actually holds up?

And that's the thing with auction site gear, you never know if you're getting a return or a factory reject. What brand was the one that snapped? I've been looking at the Roberts kickers but I'm not sure if they're actually tougher or just painted nicer.

That "snapped clean off" thing is rough. My buddy had a kickback on a miter saw that sent a piece of trim flying like a missile. It put a hole straight through his garage wall drywall. We just stared at it for a minute, then went to get more spackle.

Oh man, that "snapped clean off" line gave me flashbacks. My uncle tried to save money on a floor nailer for his own bungalow project, and it jammed so bad we had to take the whole thing apart in his driveway. He was cussing for a solid hour. What did you end up doing to finish the hallway?
