Serious question, did anyone else think carpet knee kickers were a gimmick until their first upstairs hallway?
I always figured a knee kicker was just something old timers used because they didn't want to rent a power stretcher, so for my first 3 jobs in Bakersfield I stretched everything by hand and paid for it with sore shoulders. Last Tuesday I borrowed a $180 kicker from a guy named Ron to do a 14 foot hallway and it locked the carpet in tight enough that the seams barely moved, which convinced me it was worth keeping. Do you all still power stretch the main field and just kick the edges, or is there a smarter way to split the work?
