Serious question, how many of you have had a stretch job actually come out clean on the first try?
Got a call last week from a guy in Fort Worth who wanted his whole upstairs re-stretched after a bad install left wrinkles near the hallway. I quoted him $280 and told him I'd need a clear path to the tack strip, and honestly I expected it to fight me the whole way. But I walked in, popped the baseboard, hit the tack strip with the knee kicker, and that carpet laid down smoother than anything I've done in months. No ripples, no seams to fight, just clean stretches across 3 rooms in about two and a half hours. I even had time to vacuum and pull the staples before his wife got home, and she actually said it looked better than when it was new. I've been doing this 9 years and I still get surprised when a job goes that easy on the first pass. So I'm curious, what's the last job that just worked for you with no redo?
