Vent: just read that a carpet installer in Florida got a $15,000 fine for improper disposal

Found it in a trade magazine article about new local waste rules. They dumped a whole truckload of old pad and carpet in a regular dumpster behind a strip mall. It's wild because the fine was more than the job probably paid. How do you guys handle disposal in places with super strict rules?

Wait the fine was bigger than the job's pay? That's insane, they basically paid to work and then lost even more money. I'd be checking the local dump rules ten times before loading anything.

Honestly though, sometimes those fines have to be huge to actually make people follow the rules. If it was just a small fee, everyone would just dump whatever and pay the cost. The big penalty is the only thing that stops people from trashing the place.

Yeah, the big fines are the whole point, right? Like beth_park said, you gotta check the rules. I learned that after a friend got hit with a fee for throwing out old drywall. The dump has a whole list, stuff like shingles, concrete, even too much painted wood costs extra. Call them before you go, get the exact price per load, and ask what needs to go to a special place. Saves you a massive headache later.
