Walked into a 1970s house in Tacoma and the carpet was glued straight to the slab
No pad, no tack strip, just a thick shag stuck down with black mastic. The homeowner wanted it replaced with modern stuff, and pulling it up was a two-day mess. It made me think about how much our prep work has changed since then. Anyone else run into a glue-down job from that era and have a good trick for the cleanup?

Ever try to scrape that up and just end up questioning all your life choices, lol?

Last year I spent three hours trying to get melted candy off a tile. That sticky mess made me rethink every party I ever hosted and why I even own a stove. You start wondering if you should just move out and let the next person deal with it. It feels like the floor is judging you for every cheap meal and lazy cleanup.

Heat the floor with a hair dryer first, makes scraping way easier.
