Found out the Road Runner cartoons had a real ornithologist consult and it wrecked my whole take on cartoon physics
I always figured the coyote falling off a cliff and not dying was just lazy writing, but last week I watched a panel from 2019 where a wildlife expert said real roadrunners can survive falls that would kill most birds because of their low body weight and hollow bones. That made me rethink the whole thing. My buddy keeps arguing that gravity in cartoons is just whatever the writer feels like that day, but now I think the falling gag has more real science behind it than people admit. Has anyone else found a cartoon rule that actually had a legit source behind it?
