Showerthought: my kid counted the times Scooby and Shaggy fall through a floor in one episode and it broke my brain
Two weeks ago my 9 year old and I sat through the whole first disc of Scooby Doo Where Are You, and he started tallying every time those two crash through a wooden floor or a wall and just pop back up. He got to 11 in one 22 minute episode, and here is the thing, I actually think the falls are not the plot hole people say they are, because the show never pretends it hurt them, it plays it as a gag so the joke is that it should have. So my question is, why do we keep calling cartoon falls a logic fail when the show is clearly telling us the rules on purpose, or am I just overthinking a cartoon my kid made me watch?
Totally get where you're coming from but hard disagree on this being a plot hole at all, and honestly the counting thing kind of proves it. My little brother did the same thing with Tom and Jerry and got like 40 something hits in one short, and nobody ever says those are logic fails because the whole point is the gag. With Scooby the falls are the same deal, they're a running bit, and the show sets that up from the first minute. Like when Shaggy gets bonked by a ghost and his head just spins or whatever, no one calls that bad writing, we all just laugh. Calling it a plot hole feels like holding a cartoon from 1969 to rules it never said it was playing by.
