Watching a Road Runner marathon at my cousin's place in Toledo made me question every anvil drop
Last Saturday I was at my cousin's house in Toledo and we put on a Road Runner marathon for his kids. Somewhere around the fourth episode I started counting, and Wile E. Coyote got flattened by a boulder 11 times in one sitting and was totally fine the next scene. But the part that got me was the anvil: he gets crushed into a flat sheet, then stands up normal height two seconds later with no explanation. My cousin just shrugged and said the coyote buys his gear from a company that only sells defective products, which honestly makes more sense than anything I came up with. So what is the actual cartoon rule here, do characters only get hurt when it is funny or is there some kind of reset I am missing?
