My 7 year old nephew sold me a "digital collectible" for $80 and I finally got it
My nephew set up a booth at the family reunion in Toledo last month and sold me a cartoon dog picture for $80, calling it a limited edition. He showed me the "market" for it on some site where three other kids had listings up, all priced between $75 and $90. The whole thing took him about 20 minutes to make and the floor price was set by him and his buddy texting each other. That was the moment it clicked for me. This is what half the brand collabs and "limited drops" at my local mall are doing, just with nicer websites. He made $340 that weekend off relatives alone, and now every kid at his school is doing it. Is this just the new normal for how everything gets sold to us now?
