A barista in Portland changed how I judge celebrity apologies
I was grabbing coffee at this tiny shop on SE Division, and the barista, this guy named Marcus, said he watches apology videos with the sound off to check if the body language matches the words. He pointed out that most celebs do this weird chin-lift thing when they're lying, and I tried it on three recent ones that night, including that singer who faked crying over the leaked texts. It hit different because now I can't unsee the timing, like if the sniffle comes before the sad part, it's scripted. Has anyone else tried the mute test, or am I just ruining every tearful comeback for myself? (Also, Marcus charges $1 extra for oat milk, which felt like its own apology scam.)
