Can we talk about that influencer apology where they use a filter?
I watched a beauty guru's apology video last night and she had a full glam filter on the whole time. How can I believe you're sorry about lying to fans when you won't even show your real face? Anyone else find that a dead giveaway?

wood.uma said "you can't even be real with us for five minutes" and I get that, but I gotta play devil's advocate a bit here. Are we really sure a filter means the apology is fake though? Like, I've seen people throw on a filter just because they're having a bad skin day or they're tired and don't want to look like a zombie on camera. It might not be some deep betrayal, maybe they just feel ugly in the moment. The bigger question for me is what they're actually saying, not the lighting or the smoothing effect on their nose. I've watched plenty of apologies without filters that still felt completely hollow and manipulative. So yeah, it's a little tacky and not the best look, but I'm not convinced it's the smoking gun everyone's making it out to be. Your mileage may vary obviously.
