I counted 17 'I' statements in a 3 minute apology video and it changed how I watch them

My own apology videos would just be me saying "I" until the battery died.

@nancy_wood hit on it - this scripted apology thing is just a symptom of how everyone avoids real accountability nowadays, from politicians to people in regular arguments. Real apologies take two seconds and a clear "I was wrong about this specific thing.

You're totally right, it's all "I felt this" and "I learned that." Once you notice the pattern, it just sounds like a script they're reading to save face.

Saw a piece about how these apology videos follow the same five steps every time. It's like they all hire the same crisis coach who gives them the same bad script. The "I" statements @the_robert mentioned are step two, right after the fake sad face. They never actually say what they did wrong in plain words. It's always about their own journey and never about the people they hurt. Makes the whole thing feel empty, doesn't it?
