That influencer apology about the charity money was pure theater
Remember that big YouTuber who posted a 12 minute apology for skimming off a GoFundMe? She kept using words like "hurt" and "lesson" but never actually said how much she took. I broke down the video frame by frame and noticed she blinked way more when talking about the dollar amount. That's a classic tell. Her team probably wrote that script. Did anyone else catch her looking off screen for cue cards?

People make mistakes and owning them publicly takes guts, even if the delivery isn't perfect. Can't blame her for using cue cards when everyone's ready to jump down her throat for every word.

Honestly I'm just not sure why we're acting like reading off cards is some big brave move. It's a prepared speech, not an off the cuff thing. Can we maybe chill with acting like she's a hero for doing damage control?

Used to think cue cards were kind of amateur hour honestly. Like if you're gonna stand up there and apologize you should know your stuff cold. But after seeing how people rip apart every single pause or stumble in these things I get why she'd want something to fall back on. It's less about not knowing what to say and more about not trusting yourself to say it right under that much pressure. Kinda changed my mind on the whole thing. Sometimes the smart move is just making sure you don't screw up the one part people actually care about.
