Took me 4 years to realize most celeb apologies follow the same script

I was digging through old apology videos from 2010ish trying to compare them to ones from today. Figured it would take a couple of hours to spot the differences. Ended up spending a whole weekend because I kept finding the same patterns over and over. The older ones actually had more specifics about what went wrong instead of just saying 'I'm sorry if anyone was hurt'. Has anyone else noticed how the formula changed around 2016 or so?

The "sorry if anyone was hurt" thing drives me nuts because it's such a cop out. I've watched enough of these to spot the shift you're talking about too. Around 2016 is when I started noticing they all use "taking accountability" without actually saying what they did wrong. My rule of thumb is if they don't name the specific action, it's basically a generic PR script. The old ones from 2010 were cringey in their own way but at least you got real details like "I was drunk at that party" instead of "I failed to live up to my values.

Yeah that "sorry if anyone was hurt" line is pure garbage, I spent hours digging through old videos too and found the same thing.
