Warning: That Chris Brown apology video from 2020 still gives me weird vibes

Honestly, I rewatched it last night and there's this part where he pauses for like 4 seconds before saying he's 'grown.' My buddy who works in body language analysis told me that long pauses before a key word usually mean they're making it up as they go. Happened right around the 2 minute mark in the video. Has anyone else clocked that weird pause or am I reading too much into it?

Respectfully, you're putting way too much stock in what your buddy said about body language. Those "tells" are super unreliable, especially when you're watching a video where someone knows they're being filmed for millions of people. He could have paused to compose himself, or to remember his talking points, or even because he was reading off a teleprompter and lost his spot. Honestly, the whole body language analysis thing feels like a party trick, not real evidence. If we're judging Chris Brown, let's focus on his actual actions and history instead of decoding a 4 second pause like it's a secret message.

I mean, I get where you're coming from with the body language stuff, but I feel like people read way too much into those pauses. Your buddy might be right in a general sense, but sometimes people just pause because they're thinking, not because they're lying. In my experience, a lot of these analysis things are like horoscopes where you can make anything fit what you want to see. Plus, a 4 second pause in a video could easily be bad editing or him just trying to find the right words for something he's said a thousand times before. Not saying the guy's innocent or anything, but basing it off a pause feels like a stretch to me.

Yeah I actually used to swear by those body language tricks myself, but reading this totally made me rethink that.
