Watched a singer apologize in a pool at night with wet hair, and I finally got why some apologies feel fake
Last week I sat through two apology videos back to back. One was a guy in a plain room with bad lighting who kept messing up his words, and the other was a pop star in a pool at night with wet hair and a soft piano under the whole thing. It hit me that the messy one felt real and the pretty one felt like a movie trailer. I think it's the editing that does it, because when every pause gets cut out and the camera moves all smooth, it stops looking like a person and starts looking like a product. So which one do you trust more, the bad camera or the pool at night?
Bad camera every time. I've sat across from people giving me a story with the tears timed just right and the voice all smooth, and it always smells like a sales pitch. The ones who stare at the floor and say um four times before they get it out are the ones who actually mean it. The pool at night thing was built to be watched, not to be believed.
