Watched a YouTuber's second apology for the same thing 14 months apart, and the difference was night and day
Back in early 2023 I got sucked into that whole drama with a gaming creator who got caught lying about a sponsor deal, and I watched his first apology video live when it dropped. It was 4 minutes long, ring light blasting, he kept looking off camera at what I'm pretty sure was a notes doc, and he said sorry about 9 times without ever naming what he actually did. Fast forward to last month, he posted another one because more stuff came out, and this time it was 11 minutes, no ring light, sitting on his couch in a plain hoodie. The crazy part is the second one opened with him reading the actual DM he sent, word for word, which he completely dodged the first time. I went back and rewatched the old one side by side and the tell was obvious, first video he never once said the words 'I lied' and the new one he says it in the first 30 seconds. My wife thinks I'm nuts for doing a rewatch but I swear you can see the exact moment he stops managing the room and starts talking to one person. Did anyone else follow that whole saga, and did the second one land for you or was it too little too late?
Saw a vid from a PR youtuber breaking down how the first apology was scripted for max retention and the second one was just him talking raw, which lines up with what you're saying. Binging the old one back to back really is the move, the difference in eye contact alone tells the whole story. Second one worked for me but I get why people were done with him by then.
